What is Mom’s Forecast?

While we haven’t tracked this statistic specifically, I am comfortable stating that at least 20% of our clients are family members with a senior loved one in Columbus, Ohio.  Yet, these 20% of our clients live ANYWHERE but Ohio.

After all….You can take a Buckeye out of Ohio, but you can’t take the Ohio out of the Buckeye. (I’m not sure if that is a quote-able statement but I still like it).

Absence makes the heart grow FONDER.  But when it comes to our aging parents?  Absence makes our hearts and minds WONDER.

How are they doing?  Are they safe?  Are they eating properly?  Is the house clean?  Are they protecting themselves?  Did they get their flu shot?  Should they be driving?  How are they navigating this snow and ice?

Let me assure you of something.  When we get a call from an out of town, or an out of state concerned loved one, there is an immediacy to their concerns.  They struggle with the specifics about their loved one’s basic needs.  Often, they do not know IF basic needs are being met.  The greater the distance, the harder it is to be clear about dieting habits, bathing routines or tiny details we get to be assured of when we are able to visit in person.

For these family members, we exist to improve their forecast as well as their loved one’s.  The families we serve enjoy knowing that there is an emergency plan in place.  There are people dedicated to ensuring that their loved ones are in fact not only getting groceries, but having meals made.  They aren’t only eating, they have someone to prepare meals with.  They have companionship, friendship & cognitive interaction.  They can go for a walk with someone SAFELY.  But what are all of these things?  These are ALL excellent ways to thwart early onset Alzheimers.  They are also recommended EVERYWHERE as ways to combat dementia:
